About Us
It all started in November 2021 when my wifey & kiddo were traveling to Nasik for one of the functions. As we were approaching Kasara saw a small school on the right-hand side of the road & I told wifey “tomorrow while returning we should take our kiddo to show this school & make him understand the difference between his school & schools like this”. Little did we know that the next day is going to change our life 360 degrees.
The next day while returning, saw the school again & went inside the small hamlet to see the same. Suddenly from nowhere 15-20 kids came running toward us. We took a few chocolates for them in one of the tiny shops ever seen & there was a lot of happiness on the kid’s faces & the reason behind the happiness was a 50 paise chocolate. We were surprised & came back to our home.
Another 2 or 3 weeks was the Diwali period. My kiddo gets up at 5 am for his pre-military classes. He was just 7 & half years old at that time & not that he is going to be a “Little Singham” in d police force but because he is having a lot of energy & we joined this class to channel that energy into running.
OK back to the story, bcos he gets up so early & we don’t usually roam in the evening, we didn’t purchase any new dresses or kurtas for us & him. One fine day told my wife “Now that we haven’t purchased anything, can we purchase 20 odd T-shirts for those cute kids”. My wife immediately agreed & we went & purchased T-shirts for them.
I still remember the date 18th Nov when we were accompanied by my mother in law & kiddo’s best friend Monu & we distributed the T-shirts. Seeing the distribution, more kids joined their friends to collect T-shirts. We fell short of T-shirts as we took only 20 with us, so once again purchased chocolates for them. Suddenly a man approached us who was no other than the principal of the small school due to which we came here. Little did we know that whatever is happening today, this man named Mr. Jadhav is having a very big hand in it.
He took us inside the small school & then came to know that the hamlet where we r standing is a tribal place & the school where we were in called Zilla Parishad School.
He told us “don’t give clothes or something to eat, if u want to make a difference, donate a Smart TV”. I told myself “I don’t a smart TV myself, what I am going to give”
Saw the school, 2 tiny rooms and a small cabin for the principal, the colors of the wall were faded & there was nothing for the kids to study except a blackboard & few chalks along with a duster. Had a small talk & we came back.
Our usual routine started & 1 week passed by as always.
Suddenly my mind told to me “Why can’t we donate a smart TV. I am not that financially well off but can ask my friends”.
Created 1 WhatsApp group consisting of Mayuresh Pande, Mukul Tilak, Ameya Athalye & Ketan Damle. Told them about the tribal village, school, etc. They readily agreed & helped with 2k or 3k or 5k each & we purchased a smart TV for 13.5K.
The day prior to TV distribution, that same sir asked me for the name of the group. We didn’t had any name per se. I suggested the core WhatsApp group about “Something for the society” but Ameya was reluctant & suggested Marathi name instead & I suggested Mauli & thus Mauli’s name was formed. The sir added Dombivli in it & hence the name “Mauli group of Dombivli” came to life.
